A goal of the upcoming I2 workshop is to identify areas for both the phase 1 seed grants and the longer term phase 2 projects. We plan to set up small groups of faculty from different departments and schools to write short white papers (2-3 pages) for ambitious but achievable collaborative projects. The plan is to collect the white papers -- and a synopsis of the workshop – in order to provide to our administration (at the level of Dean and higher up) tools for fund raising. These tools may also be useful for putting together a few proposals to Federal agencies, such as NSF and DARPA.
